Because I do.
It is a real thing.
Not just the "first step for being turned into a were-kitty" like my younger brother suggested.
Here is the story:
My kitten only has claws on her back legs but when she was crawling over me and husbs in the middle of the night the other week she clawed my face. Ouch. I woke up with a lovely scratch on my face. And then last week, it happened again.
But, whatever, I didn't think twice about it.
So Thursday morning I woke up with a huge rash ALL over my face. Disgusting. I could not think of how I got it. No new make up. No new shampoo. Nothing. The ONLY thing I could think of was how I had a headwarmer and hat on at the World Series game...I thought maybe it irritated my face?
Welp, this weekend it started spreading down my neck. And was itchy/kinda painful. So I headed to my Dr.
He looked at my rash and back and then he saw the scratch. He asked if it was from my scratching and I was like "no that is from my cat" and so, he went from there. He knew it was a virus but once he saw the scratch he thought I had cat scratch fever. Haha, the name makes me giggle.
Along with the rash, usually come flu-like symptoms. I think the only symptoms I have/had are fatigue, headache, joint aches, stuffy nose, and sore throat. I guess that sounds like a lot but I have been really busy with work and I sat out in a cold baseball game...so I thought I was just tackling the aftermath of a fun night mixed with my allergies.
So, the mystery rash was resolved and is disappearing quickly.
And I still love tiny fur kitties.
(I realize I looked like Snow White that winter with black hair and pasty skin, but notice the cute kitten?!)
